Peer to Peer Adoption Program
Our Peer to Peer Adoption program is a unique way to connect people who need to give up their pets with people who are looking to add to their family. Shelters are often full and no matter how hard it is to do so, they must turn animals away. Through this program, we hope to educate you on how to find the best family for your pet.
| A few things to think about before finding a new home for your pet: |
- Be sure you are ready to put your pet up for adoption; be sure that this is the best thing FOR YOUR PET.
-
Please do not list your pet for free. There are people who resell animals to research laboratories, place them in illegal dog fighting rings, or other inappropriate activities. By asking the potential adopter for an adoption fee you are making sure that the person has your pet’s best interest in mind.
- If your pet is not spayed or neutered consider doing this; there are low cost options. It is easer to adopt an altered animal. Do your part!
- Post a picture of your pet
- Download a list of interview questions.
- Do a home visit
|
| Be sure potential families know as much as they can before deciding to adopt your pet. |
- Why are you unable to keep your pet?
- What kind of pet do you have?
- Does your pet like children?
- Does your pet like other animals? If yes, what kind?
- Would your pet prefer to be an "only child"?
- Does your pet have high, medium, or low energy?
- Do your pet require special care? If so, what kind?
- Does your pet have special dietary requirements?
- What does your pet like/dislike?
