How Animals Help Us!

 
Most people, these days, know that pets help people in all sorts of ways. The question is, how can YOUR pet help YOUR community? Here are a few ideas:
  • Teach children how to care for a pet
  • Visit the lonely
  • Visit the ill
  • If your dog does agility – have your dog demonstrate this skill at a child’s birthday party or at a local elementary school
  • If you are a clinician in the medical field, visit the girls scouts or boy scouts and teach them about animal health
  • Offer your dog or cat for a few days to a household who is considering a dog or cat, so they can see what pet ownership is really like
  • Be a community educator on the health benefits of adding a pet to your family
  • Volunteer to make your home a temporary home for those suffering from foreclosure
