Step 3: Locating your
lifetime companion

We strongly support adoption and rescue and will only direct you to these resources.

Animal Shelters and Rescue Organizations

If you are looking for a pure-bred animal, please know that there are rescue organizations dedicated to pure-bred animals.

Our Peer to Peer Adoption program is a unique way to connect people who need to give up their pets with people who are looking to add to their family. Through this program, we educate adopters on how to find the best family for their pet. Be prepared to be interviewed and/or to pay a small adoption fee if the adopter asks (we encourage the fee to go toward spay and neutering if necessary OR to be donated to a local animal rescue organization). The adopter may also request a home visit. We take animal adoption seriously and will only promote this way of thinking.

Pets who never find their original owners will be posted in a special place. People who post to the board are encouraged to keep the animal they found until they can either find a new home or better yet, the owner. This would be a great place to look for your lifetime companion.

Congratulations! Now you are ready!
